This issue relates to:
FB-7272 Error when running file associated wi... C Closed

Severity: Incorrectly Functioning with Workaround
Reproducibility: Every Time
Discoverability: High
Found in Version: Moxie M3 (Beta 2) - 183654
Milestone: 3.0.1 (Released)
Affected OS(s): Mac - OS 10.4
Steps to Reproduce:
Steps to reproduce:
1. Put a fla file in a Flex Builder project
2. (Double) Cick on the fla file to open it

 Actual Results:

Unable to open external editor null
(com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui.osx.FlashExternalEditor)

Reason:
Plug-in com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui was unable to load class
com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui.osx.FlashExternalEditor

 Expected Results:
 File opens in Flash.

 Workaround (if any):
Open Preferences/General/Editors/File Associations, choose *.fla, remove Adobe Flash Editor from the list.
OR
Right click on the fla file and choose Open With then System Editor.

I have also tried going into Preferences/General/Editors/File Associations, choosing *.fla, removing Adobe Flash Editor and then adding Flash CS3 as an external editor (by browsing to it as it doesn't show up in the default list). This also gives me an error.

The same also happens in FB3b3.

Same is a problem with OSX install of FB3.0194161

Removing the files association completely does fix the problem (which then uses the OS settings to open the fla when double-clicked).

I'm seeing this on OSX with Gumbo 200309.

Unable to open external editor null
(com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui.osx.FlashExternalEditor).

Reason:
Plug-in com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui was unable to load class com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui.osx.FlashExternalEditor

IRB: Mac, does this still happen in 3.x?

Mac Martine - [05/23/08 11:30 AM ]
This occurs in Gumbo but not in 3.01. How do we handle this?

Eric Herrmann - [05/27/08 05:46 PM ]
open to me for gumbo. probably a configuration problem related to refactoring the plugins.

Eric Herrmann - [05/27/08 05:47 PM ]
actually, sending to IRB. recommend you split the bugs, one for 3.0.1 and one for gumbo. Send the latter to me.

Eric Herrmann - [05/28/08 04:08 PM ]
Actually, in fixing the Win version of this bug, I came up with something that will work for Mac as well. So I am reopening to me so I can fix two with one.

Eric Herrmann - [05/28/08 05:51 PM ]
Fixed in 3.x and 4.x. See FB-5495 for changelists.

Kazue Watanabe - [06/02/08 06:58 PM ]
Re-opening to Eric for 3.x.

The only issue reported was that if Flash isn't installed, there is no error message. I don't believe that should or can easily be fixed... Sharon is going to install Flash and try that.

Sharon Ma - [06/04/08 07:34 PM ]
Verified fixed that when Flash CS3 is installed, there's no exception message in 3.0.1 build b200949 Plugin and Standalone on OSX and Gumbo build b201099 SA on OSX.

Mac also said it works for him now with Gumbo on OSX, closing.
