George, can we pull in the patch for standalone? How hard/risky is this? Please send back to IRB with your comments.
Well short of including our own copy of the SWT plugin we can't really fix it. In the eclipse bug report it sounds like there's people fighting to get it included in an update release prior to 3.3.2 (February), so maybe we can switch Mac standalone to a newer release if they do make one very soon. We could probably be the ones who push them to do so also.
This is problem exist on the release version of Flex Builder 3 aswell.
This is a general problem in Eclipse Europa, I had to get a nightlystream when I switched to leopard. Adobe just needs to move to a new build of eclipse, or you need to run flex plugin on a newer build of flex.
There's actually a solution to this that just involves dropping a few jars into your .plugins directory, according to good ol' Andy McIntosh:
http://andymcintosh.tumblr.com/post/30106677 I think if we switch to Eclipse 3.4 for standalone, this will be resolved. Plugin users will be required to use Eclipse 3.4 as well.
more accurate repro:
STEPS: Open "Open Resources" dialog type in the first few letters of a string that matches more than one class name use the arrow keys (not the mouse) to select one of the multiple matches RESULT: flex builder crashes. note that this bug does not repro if the user does not use the arrow keys to select from a list of multiple matches. just hitting enter to select the first match, or using the mouse to select a match, does not trigger the crash. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
