It seems the Flex 2 compiler is broken. A patch is badly needed. My applications don't work anymore.

Oh, and this issue is referenced in the Flex 2 compiler known issues as issue number 175465. See http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=4a146409&sliceId=2

So I know you guys know this is broken. :)

One more thing (and I don't know how to edit my comments so here's another one). I don't know what version of Flex I have. I think it's Flex 2.0.1 with hotfix 1. But I can't remember and I don't know how to find the version number. Cheers.

This looks like the same issue as SDK-14123.

Emailed the reporter of the bug:
His flex version is Flex 2.0.1 build 159086. (Hotfix 1)
His problem went away when he removed the names from the inline functions he was using.

I tried reproducing the bug using the attached test file in SDK-14123 (main_bad.mxl) and here's what I see:
- Error is reproducible when file is compiled using Flex 2.0.1 Hotfix 3 and run using Flash Player v9 r115
- Error is not reproducible when file is compiled using Flex 3 RC2 and run using Flash Player v9 r 115

Unless there's a patch scheduled for Flex 2.0.1, it's best to have this issue better documented with the workarounds mentioned in SDK-14123.

Deferred - 2.0.1 issue.
